Preparation method:
Mix the phase A ingredients in a bowl.

A light gel is formed from the ingredients of phase B: the guar gum is added to the water, in a motion, and mixed until the gum is completely dispersed. The solution is left to rest for approximately 5 minutes for gel formation.

Phase A is added to the phase B gel, and mixed well until a homogeneous paste is obtained. A pestle can also be used to facilitate homogenization.

Add the phase C ingredients to the homogeneous paste and mix thoroughly. The resulting paste is transferred to the dedicated container.

The result is classic toothpaste, with a fresh aroma and medium abrasiveness. It does not foam because the formula does not contain foaming agents, but has an optimal texture. It is not sweet, it has a specific refreshing taste given by peppermint essential oil. It is a simple formula, easy to prepare.

Options and explanations:

  • the following essential oils can be used instead of, or in combination with peppermint essential oil: lime, orange and sage (small amount), sweet fennel, myrrh, tea tree, clove leaf or cinnamon
  • spirulina or chlorophyll are for coloring the paste, they can be removed from the recipe; the color given by spirulina fades over time but the color given by chlorophyll is stable
  • to obtain a foaming paste, approximately 1 gr of Cocamidopropyl betaine powder will be included in phase A
