"Rubin" lipstick

A apricot kernel oil 1,75 gr
A castor oil 1,05 gr
A lipgloss base 1,4 gr
A shea butter 0,7 gr
A beeswax 0,7 gr
A carnauba wax 0,35 gr
A red 77 mica, cosmetic pigment 0,85 gr
A black 26 oxide, cosmetic pigment 0,04 gr (1 x DROP spoon)
B vitamin E 1 drop
B aromatic strawberry extract 6 drops

Sanitize the dedicated containers and utensils you will work with, details in the general safety guidelines.

Preparation method:

Transfer the ingredients of phase A to a heat-resistant beaker. Place in a water bath until completely melted. It is advisable to use a thermometer to make sure that the carnauba wax is melted (requires approximately 80°C), otherwise the viscosity of the lipstick will be affected.

Remove from the heat source and quickly add the ingredients of phase B. Stir vigorously and then pour quickly into the mold and leave to solidify until the next day. A nourishing, emollient and very pleasant lipstick, with a vivid and quite resistant color. It has a gloss given by the lipgloss base, which gives the lips a moist look.

Options and explanations:

  • if you want a darker red, cherry color, you can double or triple the amount of black pigment
  • instead of the prescribed pigments, other pigments may be used depending on the desired color; matte pigments color more intensely compared to pearly pigments; it is important to use about the same amount in total, as given in the recipe, because it also influences the texture of the lipstick, not just the color
  • apricot kernel oil can be replaced with another heat-resistant vegetable oil: almond, vanilla, sesame, or macadamia oil
  • we do not recommend replacing beeswax and carnauba wax with other types of wax
  • we do not recommend replacing castor oil with another vegetable oil
  • instead of shea butter, another butter with a similar texture and hardness can be used; we do not recommend cocoa butter as it would require adjusting other ingredients to obtain a lipstick with an optimal consistency
  • we do not recommend replacing or removing the gloss base in this recipe; reformulation would be needed to obtain a lipstick with optimal texture and consistency
  • another aromatic extract can be used instead of the strawberry extract, for example: pineapple, melon, or apricot

How to work with the casting mold and the lipstick container:



  • Difficulty: beginner/advanced/experienced
  • Utensils: precision scale, a small Berzelius beaker, teaspoon, lipstick mold, optional: thermometer and stainless steel measuring spoon set
  • Recommended container: lipstick tube
  • Shelf-life: 6 months, prepared in optimal conditions of hygiene, kept in a dry and cool place
