Tulsi powder - holy basil

Known for its anti-inflammatory and purifying properties, helps fight dandruff and scalp problems, cleanses the skin. It's particularly useful for oily and combination skin types, and problem skin.

One of the preeminent herbs in Ayurveda, Tulsi has cleansing properties, contains antioxidant compounds and restorative phyto-chemicals, works as a natural antiseptic. It is great for treating skin with different problems such as skin eruptions, eczema, itching, scalp irritations and skin infections.

Properties

• antibacterial, purifying, detoxifier
• antidandruff
• anti-inflammatory, antioxidant
• toning and revitalizing
• soothing in case of itching and irritations

Applications, usage

• oily hair, irritated scalp, dandruff, rashes, eczema, itching
• combination and oily skin, acne, imperfections, problem skin
• mix Tulsi powder with warm water or hydrosol until it forms a paste; apply the paste as a face mask on clean skin, leave on for approx. 10 minutes; rinse with water and apply a moisturiser
• mix Tulsi powder with warm water until it forms a paste; apply to hair and massage well into scalp; leave on for approx. 20 minutes and rinse with water
• make an infusion or a water/oil macerate 10% tulsi + 90% water or oil; filter it and use as it is or as ingredient for cosmetic formulations

Recommended combinations

• with Amla powder mix 1 to 1, as a hair mask for healthy and beautiful hair
• with Shikakai, mix 1 to 2, form a paste and use as a shampoo
• with Ghassoul in cleansing applications for the scalp
• with Brahmi for fight dandruff and hair loss
• with rosemary water for a mask for combination/oily skin
• with chamomile water for irritated and itching skin
• with lavender water for deteriorated skin, eczema
• with rose water for mature complexion
