Vitamin C (MAP)

A light-stable and oxygen-stable vitamin C derivative that does not degrade in water containing formulas. A potent antioxidant widely used in anti-aging skin care and in skin-lightning formulations.

INCI: magnesium ascorbyl phosphate

Organoleptic properties: white-yellowish powder, mild odor
pH Value (3% in water): 7-8,5

Properties

• potent antioxidant and free radical scavenger
• light-stable, oxygen-stable, non-irritating
• inhibitis tyrosinase activity and melanin production
• boosts skin collagen synthesis
• suitable for sensitive skin which avoids any concomitant exfoliating effect
• may reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
• may reduce redness and hyperpigmentation
• can improve elasticity and general appearance of skin

How to use:

• usual dosage 0.5 - 3% and up to 15% in intensive care
• for hyperpigmentation is indicated in a percentage of at least 5%
• is soluble in water in a percentage of up to 15%
• is soluble in water in a percentage of up to 15%
• in compositions that are not prepared by heating, vitamin C (MAP) is added in lukewarm water up
  to 40 ° C, to facilitate its dissolution
• in emulsions it can be included in the aqueous phase, since it does not degrade if it is subjected for a short time to temperatures of up to approx. 75 ° C

Note: 
-  it is added to the water gradually, by sprinkling and mixing vigorously, otherwise it may form grit difficult to solubilize.
- the pH range in which it acts optimally is 6-7; in compositions with a pH lower than 6 can cause color change

Applications, usage

• toners, lotions, creams, serums, masks, anti-aging products, suncare and after-sun formulations, skin lightening products, hyperpigmentation and age spots treatments, hand creams, makeup products, BB cream, CC cream
• general usage rate: 0,5-3% and up to 15% in treatments
• water soluble up to 15%
• may cause color change in formulations with a pH below 6
• can be added to the water phase prior to heating or to the cool down phase
• optimal pH range of the formulations: 6-7

Storage: in a cool, dry place, protected from light
