Purifying hand gel, no rinsing

Phase Ingredients for ~100 ml % Quantity
A flat mineral water 68 68 gr
A aloe vera powder 0,5 0,5 gr
A xanthan gum 1,5 1,5 gr
B 96° grain alcohol 25 25 gr
C mallow extract 3 3 gr
C cajeput essential oil 0,5 15 drops
C lavender essential oil 1 30 drops
C tea tree essential oil 0,5 15 drops

Sanitize the dedicated containers and utensils you will work with, details in the general safety guidelines.

In a glass or bowl, mix the water with the aloe vera powder until the powder is completely dissolved. Sprinkle with xanthan gum and mix vigorously until evenly dispersed. The composition is left to rest for about 10 minutes until the gel is formed.

Add the alcohol little by little to the gel obtained, stirring after each addition until the gel has stabilized.

Finally, add the ingredients from phase C, mixing after each one. The gel thus obtained is transferred to the dedicated container. pH: 6-6,5

It is a hydro-alcoholic gel based on essential oils with purifying and antimicrobial properties, enriched with aloe vera and mallow extract that also contains glycerin. Leaves skin clean, smooth and neat.

The gel does not replace hand washing with soap and water, but is useful when additional sanitation is needed or in situations where it is not possible to wash hands (subway, train, while travelling, public places)

Options and explanations:

  • 96° alcohol can be purchased from grocery stores, from the spirits section
  • peppermint, rosemary or witch hazel water can replace half of the flat water
  • if you want to use aloe vera gel instead of powder, consider 30% aloe gel and 38.5% plain water
  • instead of the essential oils proposed in the recipe, another combination of essential oils with purifying and antimicrobial properties can be used
